Veteran Opportunties: NHI Massage Therapy School Graduate, Chris Pavao - U.S. Marine Corps
Welcome to the Veterans Page! My name is Chris Pavao. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and a NHI Graduate. After struggling with chronic back issues since I was on active duty, I decided to try a career that would allow me to help others like myself. I chose NHI because their core program offered everything I wanted to become a massage therapist. Since completing the program, I continue to be passionate about massage and decided to also reach out to fellow Veterans about NHI and the career opportunities Massage Therapy can offer. I consider myself very lucky to help people with ailments through massage but also reach out to my fellow Veterans in finding a career path they too can enjoy.
Q: Can I enroll even though I am still in active duty?Back to Top
A: Yes, NHI offers flexible class scheduling.
Q: What happens if I am recalled or am on reserve duty?Back to Top
A: If you are recalled to active duty, NHI will work with you to maintain your enrollment. If your absence is for less than 10 days, we’ll work to get you back into the same Group. If your absence is longer than 10 days, you will need to take a Leave of Absence and return to a different Group, right where you left off. The length of a Leave is limited by the Department of Education to a certain number of days within a 12-month period:
120 days for an 8-month program
150 days for a 10-month program
180 days for a 12-month program
A longer absence will necessitate a withdrawal from school, but we will work with you to make sure you can re-enter at a time that works best for you.
Q: Can my spouse/children use my GI bill?Back to Top
Q: Can I begin/complete the enrollment process before I return from a deployment?Back to Top
A: Yes, complete the form below to begin your enrollment process and an Admissions Representative will contact you shortly. In the meantime, take an online video tour.
Q: What documents are required for enrollment as a veteran?Back to Top
A: In order to certify for enrollment, we will need your DD214, eligibility letter and transcripts from any previous college. We will also have you sign an acknowledgment that you received our VA Bulletin. All of this is collected by the Financial Aid Department and then forwarded to our certifying official to complete once you start school.
Q: Are all of NHI’s 7 massage schools located throughout California eligible for VA benefits?Back to Top
A: Currently 6 of our 7 campuses (San Francisco, San Jose, Studio City, Sacramento, Petaluma, and Emeryville) are approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer VA funding in support of veterans employment opportunities and veteran job training. Our Santa Ana campus will become eligible on May 15, 2014.
A: Yes, each campus has its own dedicated Student Life and Career Coordinator who can assist you in finding housing, employment and other necessities that come with relocating. NHI wholeheartedly supports and invests in veterans employment opportunities and veteran job training.
Veteran Opportunties: Massage Therapy School Student, Eric Wessel - U.S. Air Force
My name is Eric Wessel. I am a veteran of the Iraq war. I have chosen to pursue a career in massage therapy with NHI because I have experienced stress at its highest level. It took a toll on my mind and body. So in relation to the mind and body I feel it is important to have balance in them. Massage is one way to achieve that goal. I feel that giving a massage is therapeutic for me as well. It lets me get into a calmer space. I also enjoy seeing the difference in people when they receive a great massage. I am glad to have work that makes a difference to people.
Sincerely,
Eric Wessel
