Professional Massage Therapy Program with Sports Massage Training
From professional athletes to weekend warriors, people everywhere push their physical limits in activities such as running, cycling, hiking, swimming, dancing, tennis, strength training and aerobics. All of these physically active people can benefit from massage, and especially from sports massage.
If you’re interested in massage therapy and in helping others to get the most of their physical activities, you could have a bright future in Sports Massage.
The Massage Therapy Training Program from National Holistic Institute provides comprehensive hands-on massage training that includes training in sports massage.
Become a Sports Massage Professional
Sports massage can be defined as the application of a variety of massage techniques and stretching exercises to enhance athletic performance.
Many trainers believe that sports massage can give their athletes an extra edge in competition, and we have seen massage administered to sports participants locally, nationally, and internationally, in competitions of all kinds, including the Olympics.
At National Holistic Institute, students study sports-specific techniques for:
And maintenance massage
Students also often provide sports massage at local endurance type events such as:
Additionally, as a student in this program you will study injury, injury prevention, application of heat and ice, and trigger point therapies as part of your sports massage training.
Comprehensive Massage Therapy Training
In addition to an introduction to sports massage, as an NHI student you will receive a comprehensive massage therapy education including both Eastern and Western modalities.
At NHI, learning is hands-on with a focus on real-world experience. You’ll treat real clients, under the guidance of experienced instructors, in our on-campus clinics. Feel comfortable and fully prepared to transition from student to working massage professional after gaining so much practical experience before you graduate.
Get Prepared for California State Certification
Upon completion of this program, graduates are fully prepared and qualified to take the MBLEX exam required for California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) Certification.
After completing 500 hours of the program, you'll be eligible to begin the application process for CAMTC certification. Once you’re certified you can work in the massage therapy field. If you become certified before graduating the program, you can begin working while you finish your training.
Convenient Morning, Afternoon & Evening Schedules
This program is designed to fit the needs of busy adult learners. We understand the lives our students lead, and how important it is to have balance. Many students are working, taking care of family and/or juggling other commitments while they attend school. Choose the schedule that best fits your lifestyle.
The full-time program can be completed in 8 months. The part-time program can be completed in 10 months or 12 months.
We wholeheartedly believe that being a well-trained massage therapist gives you the ability to improve your life, career and community in ways that will make you and the people around you happier and more fulfilled.

"I’m originally from St.Louis, Missouri and I moved all the way to California to start the program at NHI. I researched the school beforehand and it looked great. I really wanted a well rounded education that NHI offered. At NHI, I made really great relationships with my mentors. I chose massage therapy because you can go in so many different directions and now I’m completely supporting myself through massage therapy."
