Why You’ll Love Working at a Spa as a Massage Therapist

Massage Therapy has become the most widely used complementary care modality in the United States. More and more people are turning to massage to treat injury, reduce pain and ease stress. Spas are where most people continue to receive massage, with 21% of those surveyed saying they received their last massage at a spa.

  • The continually growing spa industry gives you more opportunities to move or relocate
  • On average, massage therapists working in spa settings earn $51.58 per hour
  • The ability to work with multiple clients a day, and have a steady supply of new clients
  • Receive discounted or complimentary services at the spa
  • Be supplied with linens, equipment, oil and cream, and uniforms
  • Opportunity to work in a pleasant, relaxing environment
  • Opportunity to diversify your expertise to include wraps, scrubs and other services
  • Receive complimentary continued education opportunities
  • Receive benefit packages including medical and dental coverage, sick days, and vacation days
  • Working with a team of massage therapists will provide you with a sense of community and support
  • The ability to spend more time focusing on providing the best services for your clients while the supportive staff manages booking appointments, processing payments, general cleaning, laundry services, and assistance with treatment room turnover

When you attend an accredited institution, you are attending a school that has undergone a rigorous process that evaluates educational quality. It’s not easy to become or remain an accredited institution. The rules and regulations are strict, precise and designed to protect students. Here are some of the benefits:

  • A reliable indicator of quality
  • Approved program of study

I’m originally from St.Louis, Missouri and I moved all the way to California to start the program at NHI. I researched the school beforehand and it looked great. I really wanted a well rounded education that NHI offered. At NHI, I made really great relationships with my mentors. I chose massage therapy because you can go in so many different directions and now I’m completely supporting myself through massage therapy.
