Student and Campus Life
National Holistic Institute’s Petaluma campus—one of our four NHI massage therapy schools in the Bay Area—is in the heart of Sonoma County and a short drive into the Napa Valley. Many premier spas and resorts in the area hire our graduates, and the campus is well integrated into the region through many volunteer events, externship opportunities, and our Sports Massage Team.
NHI Petaluma is about an hour north of the city of San Francisco, tucked into the Sonoma Valley. Known for a unique micro-climate, temperatures often range from 30-60 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter, and 60-90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
Quaint downtown Petaluma is a short drive from campus and offers a myriad of dining and shopping options, including the Petaluma Premium Outlets. A Starbucks and an IHOP, among other businesses, are directly behind the campus.
Students in the massage training program at NHI Petaluma are able to participate in and attend many events held on and off campus, including: Advanced Program Sampler classes; expert panels featuring massage industry professionals; performing massage at marathons and other sports events with the NHI Sports Massage Team; grad & alumni nights; hiring events with employers like Burke Williams and Massage Envy; and many more.

If you’re interested in going to NHI or pursuing a career in massage therapy, do it ! Don’t only join for the Core Massage Therapy Training Program, take the Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy Program and help define what Massage Therapy truly is. I went from working 60-80 hours a week in restaurants and customer service based jobs that were draining me and not allowing me to have a life. Being a Certified Neuromuscular Massage Therapist or just a CMT (Certified Massage Therapist) in general allows me to work half that amount of hours a week or less and still make a living. I am more in-tuned with my own body and self care. I finally see a bright future for myself and am looking forward to this journey that has only just begun. Attending the National Holistic Institute has helped change my life in all the best ways possible.
