Get the Skills to Be a Professional Massage Therapist
8 Month Massage Therapy Training Program with Focus on Caring for Clients with Cancer
Oncology massage is a gentle, safe, and effective massage technique that is comforting and nurturing for anyone with cancer, a history of cancer or in a fragile state of health.
The needs of massage clients facing cancer and other illnesses are best served by therapists who have taken the time to become informed and had guidance in this specialized area.
If you’re interested in the power of massage therapy and want to pursue a rewarding future helping others in need, becoming a qualified massage therapist is the first step on the path to becoming an oncology massage specialist.
Becoming a Qualified Massage Professional
Because of the various restrictions necessary for massage of ill clients, it is very important for the massage therapist who is treating a person affected by cancer - either currently or in the past - to have specialized training in oncology massage, in addition to being a licensed massage therapist.
The comprehensive Massage Therapy Training Program from National Holistic Institute provides the hands-on training, practical experience and industry support it takes to become a skilled massage therapist, and provides an introduction to Oncology Massage.
As a student in this program you’ll gain an array of skills in both Eastern and Western massage modalities, including:
- Deep Tissue
- Lymphatic Massage
- Aromatherapy & Spa Life
- Foot Reflexology
- Hot Stone Massage
- Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Hand & Foot Reflexology
- Energy Work
Getting the skills to help others to feel well during difficult times is a truly enriching experience.
Real World Training
Students in this program treat real clients, under the guidance of licensed instructors, in our on-campus clinics. You’ll feel comfortable and fully prepared to transition from student to working massage professional after gaining so much direct, real world experience before you graduate.
Convenient Morning, Afternoon & Evening Schedules
This program is designed to fit the needs of busy adult learners. We understand the lives our students lead, and how important it is to have balance. Many students are working, taking care of family and/or juggling other commitments while they attend school. Choose the schedule that best fits your lifestyle.
The full-time program can be completed in 8 months.
The part-time program can be completed in 10 months or 12 months.
Get Prepared for California State Certification
Upon completion of this program, graduates are fully prepared and qualified to take the MBLEX exam required for California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) Certification.
After completing 500 hours of the program, you'll be eligible to begin the application process for CAMTC certification. Once you’re certified you can work in the massage therapy field. If you become certified before graduating the program, you can begin working while you finish your training.
We wholeheartedly believe that being a well-trained massage therapist gives you the ability to improve your life, career and community in ways that will make you and the people around you happier and more fulfilled.

"I am an architect and I decided to explore massage therapy as an alternative to spending eight hours a day at a desk. Every class was amazing and I loved the AVK teaching method that is used at NHI which is learning by hearing, seeing and doing, it really helped make the curriculum easy to learn because we got the information in so many different ways."
