Intro to Massage Therapy Workshop

Join us at NHI Santa Ana on Saturday, September 19 from 9am to 5pm for a hands-on Intro to Massage Therapy Workshop designed for anyone who wants to learn basic massage skills or explore massage therapy as a possible career.

During this one-day workshop, you’ll learn and practice:

• Seated shoulder massage
• Basic body mechanics
• Hygiene, sanitation, consent, and massage safety
• Introductory anatomy and palpation
• The five Swedish strokes
• Draping and table safety
• A coached Swedish back massage sequence
• Partner practice and feedback

You’ll also learn more about massage training and career opportunities.

No previous massage experience is required.

A few things to know before you arrive:

• Wear clean, loose, comfortable clothing you can move in. The Swedish portion uses lotion or oil with professional draping, but undressing is never required.
• Stay home if you are sick. Please do not attend with a fever, contagious illness, unexplained rash, or anything else that could put you or others at risk.
• Come scent free. NHI is a fragrance-free environment, so skip perfume, cologne, and strongly scented lotions.
• Keep nails short and clean, smooth enough not to scratch a practice partner.
• You will work in pairs, taking turns giving and receiving. Everything is voluntary, consent comes first, and you can decline or stop any technique at any time without explaining why.
• Arrive on time. Latecomers may have to observe rather than participate if they miss a safety demo.
• Bring your own lunch. Water and light snacks are provided.
• You must be 18 or older and may be asked for ID at check-in.
• You will sign a participation and liability waiver on arrival. Plan a few minutes to read it before we begin.

Workshop Cost | $50

NOTE | Workshop attendees who decide to enroll in an NHI program afterward will have their registration fee waived.
